New Podiatrist

DELAND – Podiatrist Matthew J. Hentzel, DPM, has joined the medical staff at Florida Hospital DeLand and opened the Foot and Ankle of Volusia practice.

Dr. Hentzel grew up in Volusia County, returned to the area following his residency training, and has been in private practice in the area for the last 10 years. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle problems, focusing on diabetic care, sports medicine and wound care.

Dr. Hentzel is board certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Med from the College of Charleston in S.C. and a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences in Miami Shores, Fla. He completed a podiatric surgical residency at Palmetto General Hospital in Miami.

Additionally, Dr. Hentzel has traveled to Mexico to volunteer with Barry University’s Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project (YCCP). The YCCP was established in 1996 to provide surgical and medical treatment to crippled children in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Since its inception, physicians and surgeons from Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine have helped thousands of children who suffer from disabilities get back on their feet.
