Hospital Brightens the Holidays for Local Families

DELAND – There is no greater gift than to help a family in need for the holidays. Florida Hospital DeLand’s Adopt-a-Family Program was created to assist families with their Christmas celebration. Without the benefit of an adoption, these families otherwise wouldn't be able to celebrate due to their hardships.

This year Florida Hospital DeLand helped 20 families, with a total of 73 children, from both the House Next Door, as well as their own hospital, have a brighter and merrier Christmas.

Before sending the gifts to the families, employees and volunteers gathered in the Florida Hospital DeLand lobby to bless the gifts before sending them off.

With the help of generous employees and volunteers, Christmas blessings will be shared with families throughout DeLand to make Christmas 2012 a celebration they will never forget.

This program is another example of Florida Hospital DeLand’s Christian mission. The hospital is part of the Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler nonprofit hospital system with a mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. In 2011, Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler collectively contributed more than $96 million in benefits to the underprivileged, the community’s overall health and wellness and spiritual needs, and capital improvements.
