Florida Hospital DeLand Welcomes Interventional Cardiologist
DELAND – Dr. Janak H. Bhavsar has joined Daytona Heart Group. He will perform interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures at Florida Hospital DeLand. Additionally, he has been selected to serve as the hospital’s Medical Director for Endovascular Services.

As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Bhavsar specializes in coronary catheterization, and is able to perform both cardiac and peripheral interventions. Other diagnostic studies he will be involved in include tranthoracic, as well as transesophageal echocardiograms, nuclear medicine studies and vascular interpretations.

When appropriate for the patient, Dr. Bhavsar prefers performing cardiac catheterizations through the radial artery in the wrist, instead of the femoral artery in the groin. Patients often prefer this because it has a lower rate of complications and is more comfortable, as they are able to sit up and be ambulatory much sooner after the procedure instead of being required to lie flat for two to six hours.

Dr. Bhavsar earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a Molecular Biology track from Rutgers University in N.J. and his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn. additionally; he completed a Cardiology Fellowship, as well as an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Miriam Hospital at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Dr. Bhavsar is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography. He is also board certified in Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Bhavsar is accepting new patients and most insurance plans. His new office is located at Daytona Heart Group, 630 W. Plymouth Ave., DeLand and can be reached at (386) 734-3654.
