Florida Hospital DeLand Promotes Clinical Effectiveness Quality Manager

DELAND, Fla., January 24, 2014 – Florida Hospital DeLand has promoted Melissa Gaston to clinical effectiveness director. In this new role, Gaston will oversee key hospital initiatives, including quality and clinical education.

Gaston previously served as the hospital’s quality manager for clinical effectiveness where she led Florida Hospital DeLand’s clinical effectiveness team and was responsible managing performance improvement programs such as core measures and other clinical process measures.

Prior to joining Florida Hospital DeLand, Gaston was the performance improvement coordinator at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast where she collected and aggregated data for various performance improvement initiatives and functioned as the Adventist Health System patient safety organization liaison.

Gaston, an Ormond Beach resident, graduated from Daytona Beach Community College in 2001 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Jacksonville University. She is a member of the Florida Association for Healthcare. Gaston is currently pursuing her Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality certification and will begin work on her Master of Science in Nursing in the fall.
