The Emergency Department at Florida Hospital DeLand has achieved 100 percent fully-electronic patient medical records including physician documentation.
The paperless system designed specifically for the Emergency Department is called “PowerNoteED” and was created to efficiently manage physician documentation by eliminating handwritten notes and minimize the potential for errors. The new system automatically creates a template based on a patient’s condition, age and gender, streamlining the process for both patient and clinician and eliminating redundant questions.
PowerNoteED makes the electronic clinical information immediately available to admitting physicians and primary care providers.
“We chose to pursue PowerNoteED for more efficiency and safety for our patients. This goes hand-in-hand with Florida Hospital DeLand’s move to paperless medical records for all inpatients last fall,” said Beth Hooks, RN, BSN, MBA, Florida Hospital DeLand Director Emergency and Behavioral Health Services.
