250 Women Join Florida Hospital DeLand for “Girls Night Out”

DELAND – On May 30, approximately 250 women joined Florida Hospital DeLand for Girls Night Out, an evening of education and inspiration.

Women of all ages came to the Victoria Gardens Clubhouse in DeLand and enjoyed free health screenings, makeovers, Vera Bradley door prizes and more.

“This event was a huge success!” exclaimed Dore Shepard, Florida Hospital DeLand Director Cancer Services. “What our team essentially did was make women healthcare issues something that shouldn’t be dreaded. Women’s healthcare issues were communicated by our local experts in a relaxed, fun environment.”

This was Florida Hospital DeLand’s first Girls Night Out and it is scheduled to be an annual event.

“Personally, as a Baby Boomer, when I saw our guests dancing to music from our youth, it brought a smile to my heart,” Shepard said. “Some of my colleagues danced and there was even a woman out on the dance floor with her cane. It was like a celebration of who we are as women.”
