Frequently Asked Questions about Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation

What is the purpose of the Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation?
The purpose of the Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation is to support the mission of Florida Hospital by providing philanthropic opportunities to its employees and constituents. These opportunities help provide necessary funds for capital equipment, expansions and renovations.

Who serves on the Foundation Board?
Dedicated community volunteers with diverse backgrounds and expertise serve on the Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation Board. These individuals are committed to helping support the hospital's charitable mission and assuring that quality healthcare services are available in our community.

Why is Florida Hospital DeLand called "not-for-profit"? Don't they make money?
From the outside, a "not-for-profit" and a "for-profit" hospital may appear to be similar, since both provide healthcare services and have the same types of operating expenses. Yet there is a significant difference between the two. A "not-for-profit" institution reinvests revenue over expenses back into the hospital for the ultimate benefit of the community. In comparison, a "for-profit" institution distributes earnings to shareholders.

Because Florida Hospital DeLand is a "not-for-profit" institution with no shareholders, earnings are used to fund equipment, facilities and services that are required to maintain an up-to-date facility, which meets the needs of the community we serve.

Why does Florida Hospital DeLand need to raise money?
Although the hospital is financially sound, it is not immune to today's financial challenges that include government cutbacks in Medicare reimbursements, revenue shortfalls and the continuing cost of charity care. To remain financially sound and to stay competitive in this environment, Florida Hospital DeLand aggressively pursues ways to control expenses and enhance quality and productivity to serve the community more effectively. Donations to Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation enable the hospital to provide for capital needs, services and programs that may otherwise go unfunded.

Why do you need my contribution and how will my money be used?
A gift to Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation is an investment in healthcare for you, your family, neighbors and friends. One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to supporting capital projects to further enhance the quality of service from Florida Hospital DeLand.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.

How can I make my donation?
